About Us

How We Got Started

New Choices Farms was born out of the idea of how we could support a homeless ministry that provided food one day a week to those living on the streets of Boise, Idaho and that maybe we could help them save “some” money on their fresh produce. Along the way, we expanded our vision to creating a self-sustainable farm that would not only grow quality food for a reasonable price, but grow it in the most natural way we could. We wanted to provide the type of product we would be proud to give to family and friends to help those less fortunate eat better.

Our Mission

To take what we have been blessed with and provide a way for us to not only provide quality food to those who come to us, but to also be able to donate food or support from at least 10 percent of what we grow. So far, we have exceeded that amount each year and are happy to say as we continue to grow the number of people we help continues to grow.

We chose to start out with Aquaponic farming to provide quality food and produce as close to nature as we could. After first couple of years, we now have a 3000 sq ft greenhouse and everything is grown from the symbiotic relationship with the fish and the water. All other inputs into the system are organic and natural.

This year, we started practicing the concepts of Natural Farming. It is where all the inputs (fertilizers, plant supplements, and even pest control) come from the things we grow or grow around us on the farm. Our goal is to make a sustainable, naturally grown product that will be rich in nutrients and free of non-organic artificial chemicals.
